The Flexible Microhome is located by the Onondaga Lake in Upstate New York. The microhome provides holiday housing for a couple. In response to the climate, the house has two layers of enclosure. The external layer is made with light steel frame structure and ETFE panels. I could slide along railways on the ground to create different spatial conditions. The inner core is an elevated wooden cabin. During summer, the shell could open to allow wind, sunlight, and water to flow through. In winter it would close to become a greenhouse and add a extra layer of insulation. The inner core uses cable-stayed structure to elevate the living space from the ground in order to avoid flooding, pests, and snow.
